BMH/CCV College to Career Medical Assisting Apprenticeship
Brattleboro Memorial Hospital (BMH) and CCV are once again offering an accelerated program to prepare qualified candidates for jobs as medical assistants.

The College to Career program is a one-semester apprenticeship limited to twenty participants. Classes are held at CCV-Brattleboro, with clinical aspects of the course completed at BMH. As part of the joint initiative, BMH is providing full scholarships for eight successful applicants to the program. Scholarship recipients will have their CCV tuition covered and will be hired as Medical Assistants at BMH upon successful completion of the academic program.

These agreements, sometimes referred to as articulation agreements, help students continue on to a bachelor’s degree program. Our pathways and agreements provide a seamless and efficient route toward continuing your education beyond an associate degree.

The University of Vermont Transfer Pathways Program

The CCV to UVM Transfer Pathways Program offers 30 different pathways that guarantee CCV students junior status at the time they transfer to UVM. Students can apply to the program as early as their senior year of high school. CCV students considering any of the 2+2 pathways should work closely with their academic advisor. UVM offers CCV to UVM Scholarships as a part of the Transfer Pathways Program.

CCV and BCC have an articulation agreement providing CCV students with a pathway to transfer up to 33 credits toward the Physical Therapy Assistant A.S. program. Transcript Request

To send your CCV transcript to an employer, another educational institution, or any other third party, you can place your request electronically through Parchment. This secure website offers transcripts that can be electronically delivered to an in-network college or university, emailed to an individual (they receive a one-time download code within an email) or sent using various shipping methods, including overnight. The minimum processing fee is $6.50 per transcript. Other charges apply according to the chosen method of delivery.

Please be aware that all library obligations with CCV or Vermont State University must be met before we can release your transcript.

Please contact the registrar’s office if you are unable to order your transcripts online.

Note: If you are interested in transferring credits from other colleges to CCV, go to our transfer student page. Alumni of the Prior Learning Assessment program should use this special request form to transfer those credits earned.

Enrollment Verification

This is a secure self-service provided by the National Student Clearinghouse that allows you to:

  • view current or full enrollment history,
  • print an enrollment verification certificate to send to loan providers, health insurers, or other organizations that require proof of your enrollment at CCV,
  • check notifications that were requested by your loan lenders, and
  • obtain a list of your loan lenders.

The CCV TRIO Student Support Services program is a federally funded program designed to help eligible students reach their academic potential and meet their educational and career goals. CCV TRIO is funded to serve only 225 students; as such, we have a selective application process that assesses student motivation, academic need, and ability to benefit.

Admission to CCV’s TRIO program is not automatic; it is a privilege. While CCV’s TRIO program is designed to help students succeed, it takes a commitment by the student to be truly effective.

Benefits of TRIO

As a CCV TRIO student, you are eligible to receive these and other benefits:

  • Priority advising with a TRIO advisor who will serve as an academic mentor and transfer counselor
  • Participation in Annual Leadership Day and other leadership development opportunities
  • Access to TRIO grants ($700 to $1000)
  • Private tutoring when you need instruction beyond what Learning Center tutors can provide
  • Financial literacy instruction to help you learn how to manage money wisely
  • Workshops, college visits, transfer, and career information
  • Eligibility for CCV TRIO Study Abroad Scholarships (two $500) awarded annually

If accepted into the TRIO Program, you will be eligible for the various opportunities and services until you graduate or transfer from CCV. Being a student is hard work, as you already know, and this program is one more source of support for your effort to earn a college degree.

The VSCS Libraries serve both CCV and Vermont State University. Faculty, staff, and registered students can access a large collection of online periodicals, eBooks, streaming videos, and specialized academic databases through the library website.

Print materials can be requested online and are delivered directly to your home address. Materials can be returned to any CCV Academic Center.

VSCS librarians help students develop effective research strategies, navigate library databases, and recommend specific academic sources for research projects and papers. You can choose to access subject-specific tutoring 24/7 through Tutor.com, or you can connect with an academic mentor virtually through CCV’s Learning Center Online Live.

Option 1: Academic Mentoring via Zoom

Academic mentors are available to support you with assignments and study habits. They can guide you through course work and promote confidence, motivation, autonomy, and academic achievement; and mentors can assist you with accessing services such as Tutor.com, Canvas, and academic advising. 

The purpose of the academic mentoring provided through CCV’s Learning Center Online Live is to:  

  • Promote independent learning  
  • Support you in recognizing learning strengths & identifying academic strategies that work for you  
  • Model successful learning habits  
  • Connect you to helpful learning support resources   

Academic mentors help you develop a variety of skills, including:

  • Academic Skills & Habits: develop learning strategies that work for you, and overcome barriers to success.  
  • Writing: advance your skills in all facets of writing, including brainstorming and prewriting strategies; proficiency with grammar and punctuation; incorporating paraphrases, quotations, and citations; and paragraphing, organization, and thesis development.  
  • Math: find support to learn math skills developed in many CCV courses – from Foundations of Mathematics through Applied Mathematical Concepts, with additional resources for advanced math courses and quantitative reasoning skills, e.g., reading graphs and charts, making estimates.  
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency: gain competence managing files and using software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  
  • CCV’s Portal Navigation: activate your account and learn to navigate CCV’s portal to access College information, CCV email, resources, and services.  
  • Online Learning/Canvas: understand the common features used in both online and in-person classes including how to upload assignments, post in a discussion forum, and check your gradebook.  
  • Library Skills: acquire basic library skills to access books, full-text articles, and online reference resources through the VSCS Libraries.  
  • Research Techniques and Proper Citation: learn appropriate use of resources in academic research and writing; receive guidance in MLA and APA documentation.  
  • Strategic Classroom Support: use and access additional learning assistance such as Tutor.com and online resources.

Learning Centers: The Space

CCV Learning Centers provide a welcoming environment for students to get the academic support they need. Each of our academic centers offers students access to computer labs and study areas, providing open and friendly spaces for studying, one-on-one or group assistance, and study groups.

At CCV, you’ll work closely with an academic advisor from the time you start at the College through graduation. Your advisor will provide you with academic, career, and transfer planning support.

CCV advisors use an advising model that places the student at the center. Through asking open-ended questions, advisors learn about your goals and needs. Advisors partner with you to…

  • Explore and clarify career goals
  • Inform how educational pathways align with careers
  • Identify the knowledge, skills, and beliefs you need to succeed
  • Create a personalized academic plan to guide to graduation and transfer
  • Guide you in setting short- and long-term academic goals

  • Learn about your personal circumstances that could support or interfere with your college progress, including:

Tips for working with your academic advisor:

  • Plan to meet with your advisor at least once per semester, especially during your first few semesters at CCV and as you near graduation.
  • Reach out to your advisor whenever you want to develop a habit that supports your progress, sharpen a skill that will help you stay motivated, have a question, or want to share a success.
  • It is important that you feel comfortable working with your advisor. If you feel like a different advisor would better meet your needs, just say so. If you are not comfortable talking about this with your current advisor, speak with someone at the front desk. An administrative assistant can help you make the transition.
