About the Program

The Career Pathways Entry Program at CCV is an on-ramp for career seekers to explore industries, participate in job shadows with local employers, gain college credit and an industry credential, and earn cash while they learn. Participating employers benefit from a diversified talent pipeline and skilled workers to fill roles in high-demand fields like manufacturing, healthcare, and human services.

How CPEP Works

The Career Pathway Entry Program works much like other pathways at CCV. Students start with CPEP Exploration, the building block of the program, where students explore industries through job shadows, earn college credit, and get paid to learn! Participants can work their way up and continue on with CPEP+, leading to entry-level employment, an apprenticeship, certification or licensure, or eventually a supervisory role.

Before the Course Begins

Initial Meeting: You’ll have the chance to meet one-on-one with the CPEP Program Manager. This is the perfect time to ask questions and ensure that CPEP is the right path for you.
Gain Clarity: We will explore skills assessments, interests, and strengths, helping you select the right pathway and gain clarity on next steps.
Resume Building: We’ll help you craft a resume that highlights your strengths and potential, setting the stage for your career exploration.

Course Expectations

Class Schedule: Classes are held every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM via Zoom. Attendance is crucial.
Homework: Expect weekly assignments that will reinforce what you’ve learned and prepare you for the next class.
Job Shadows: On Tuesdays, you’ll gain hands-on experience through job shadows with local employers. These sessions can last anywhere from 2 to 8 hours and offer a real-world glimpse into various roles within the industry.
In-Person Labs: Certain programs have two required in-person labs. These labs are full 8-hour days and allow you to gain hands-on experience with industry specific equipment that will ensure you’re more confident and competent when you start your career.
Industry Credentials: Each program pathway has an associated industry-recognized credential. Achieving this credential may require passing a test or simply completing the program. More details are available through the Program Manager.

After Completing the Program

Job Application: You’re encouraged to apply for open positions at your job shadow site. These employers are actively looking to hire CPEP graduates.
Continued Support: You will receive coaching throughout the application process on your career documents, interviewing, and professional development. If you find that a position at the job shadow site isn’t the right fit, we’re here to help. The program manager will also assist you in finding employment within the industry at a different company.

This program is designed to open doors and create opportunities for you. By engaging fully, attending all sessions, and taking advantage of the resources provided, you’re setting yourself up for a successful transition into the workforce. We’re here to support you every step of the way. Welcome to CPEP – your pathway to a rewarding career starts here.
