In an effort to reduce Vermont’s recidivism rate and support workforce development, CCV is partnering with the Vermont Department of Corrections to deliver the Corrections Post-Secondary Education Initiative. Supported by the federal grant from the Department of Justice, the program provides tuition-free college courses to Department of Corrections staff and Vermonters who are incarcerated.
- Will be open to DOC staff at all six of Vermont’s correctional facilities, including the state’s women’s prison
- All DOC residents will have access to CCV courses by the fall of 2025
- Classes are offered in flexible formats, so students can learn at their own pace
- CCV faculty and staff provide personalized support, academic advising, and career coaching
Vermont Department of Corrections staff are currently eligible to take two free courses each semester at CCV, including textbooks and fees. Staff may choose from the full listing of courses. Once enrolled in classes, DOC staff must submit a voucher request for payment to be applied to their account.
Steps to Getting Started
Complete the application for admission and select “yes” when you reach the question regarding DOC. Contact your nearest CCV center to make an appointment with an advisor, and complete the voucher request after registering for courses.
