MONTPELIER, Vt. — In an effort to address Vermont’s need for a highly skilled cybersecurity workforce, Community College of Vermont (CCV) is pleased to announce the launch of its Cyber Academy in fall 2019.

In partnership with Socratic Arts, CCV’s Cyber Academy offers an online cybersecurity credential designed to equip students with the necessary skills for success in entry-level cybersecurity positions. Cybersecurity attacks pose one of the most pressing risks to businesses, governments, and public enterprises, both in Vermont and globally. Organizations experience thousands of cybersecurity attacks every day, making knowledgeable cybersecurity professionals highly sought-after.

“CCV is stepping up to Vermont’s workforce challenges by developing innovative credentials that align with both employer and student needs,” said Heather Weinstein, CCV’s dean of student affairs and strategic initiatives. “The Cyber Academy is our response to an issue with both local and global implications, and we are proud to provide this pathway to employment in a high-demand field.”

Development of the Cyber Academy was funded in part by the Department of Defense (DOD), and the curriculum was designed in conjunction with DOD and industry experts. The program is offered 100% online, where students work through a progression of modules and courses designed to impart a strong foundation of offensive and defensive information security skills.

The Cyber Academy is comprised of two ten-week classes, which begin September 3rd.
