CCV student David Budnick has been named a 2023 New Century Transfer Scholar and will receive a $2,250 scholarship.

Budnick, who lives in Burlington, is enrolled in CCV’s Information Technology program. He has been accepted to Columbia University, where he plans to pursue his passion for creative writing. As an adult student, Budnick says it’s rewarding to continue his education on his own terms. “It feels very good to know that I’m as capable as I thought I was,” he says. Receiving the New Century Transfer scholarship is “really special. I’m proud of myself.”

New Century Transfer Scholars are selected based on their academic accomplishments, leadership, activities, and how they extend their intellectual talents beyond the classroom. Over 2,400 students were nominated from more than 1,300 college campuses across the country. Only one New Century Transfer Scholar is selected from each state.

The program is sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, Phi Theta Kappa, and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). PTK is the national honor society for community college students. CCV’s chapter was established in 2016.
