Dan Smith – Liberal Studies
Dan is currently a licensed alcohol and drug counselor working for Rutland Mental Health. Soon he will test for licensure as a clinical mental health counselor. Dan thought he wanted to be a teacher, but after taking a psychology class at CCV he chose the career path he’s on now. Dan was able to transfer into Vermont State University and complete a bachelor’s degree in psychology and went on to complete a master’s degree in counseling at UVM.

Angela Biathrow – Behavioral Science
Angela’s primary reason for attending CCV was to further her education and explore her options. She received an associate degree in criminal justice in 2020 and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree (2023) and master’s degree (2024) in criminal justice at Norwich University. Angela planned on attending law school following those degrees, but had a change of heart while volunteering at a local shelter. She is now one year into a master’s degree program in social work from Syracuse University to become a LCSW and a therapist.

Olivia Howard – Liberal Studies
Olivia has transferred to VTSU-Castleton to further her education. She is a fourth-year student in the English literature and secondary education programs and will soon receive her license to teach.

Jennifer Cobb – Human Services
Jennifer is now a youth employment specialist with the Vermont Association of Business, Industry and Rehabilitation (VABIR). Through this job, she partners with HireAbility to support youths aged 14-24 to explore careers paths and options as they transition into adulthood. Jennifer is also a licensed foster parent.

Noah Morgan – Business
Noah currently owns Pale Horse Barbell, voted Brattleboro’s Best Gym in 2025 by various platforms. Noah started the gym during their last semester at CCV and says that CCV helped them learn how to properly run a business and be successful at it. In less than two years of being open, the gym has already expanded 3 times, and is in the process of another expansion.

Shala Mailhot – Early Childhood Education Administrator
Shala is now enrolled at Central Connecticut State University working towards a master’s degree in special education. Shala also works within a special education classroom in a school district close to home. Shala says that CCV helped get them here by being positive and encouraging and motivated them to keep going.

Lucy Weed – Behavioral Science
Lucy is working full-time as a recovery coach while attending VTSU pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology and working on additional coaching credentials. For Lucy, CCV was the first step of a long journey to become a licensed clinical social worker, and getting a degree at the age of 38 did wonders to show her what she’s capable of accomplishing.

Amanda Johnson – Graphic Design
Amanda is currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism. She says that her degree from CCV has opened doors for her, and that having that degree in such a technological world is a major plus.

Sierra Martin – Early Childhood Education
Sierra has been a paraeducator for eight years. CCV helped her with understanding what goes into being a teacher and helped her earn a raise. She is looking to further her education as either a teacher or a special educator.

Lisa Henry – Behavioral Science
Lisa is currently working at a local hospital in the psychiatric services department where she works closely with patients. Lisa is currently halfway through a master’s program in clinical mental health at Vermont State University, and is in the process of becoming a licensed mental health counselor.
