CCV’s STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) studies programs will prepare you for a variety of scientific, environmental, and technical sectors. The STEM studies certificate serves as a pathway into the STEM studies or environmental science degree programs, and prepares you for transfer to engineering or other technical degrees. In the STEM studies associate degree program, you’ll have the flexibility to pursue your individual goals in fields such as physical science, life science, and pre-engineering. In the environmental science program, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills for employment in environmental fields, or for transfer into a four-year college or university. In this multidisciplinary program, you’ll learn to relate scientific theory to the environmental considerations that affect our everyday lives. You’ll gain an understanding of current environmental problems, as well as the tools to begin developing solutions. Whatever path you choose, you’ll be well prepared for the workforce or further education.

CCV programs are stackable, meaning they build on one another as you progress toward your goals. Individual classes can be applied to credentials, credentials to certificates, and certificates to degrees. Check out our certificate to degree maps and explore the stackable program options available to you.

CCV alumnus Zac Cota is a teacher naturalist at Montpelier's North Branch Nature Center. He recently hosted a CCV Forest Ecology class for a service learning project studying salamanders.
From STEM to Salamanders: CCV/Nature Center Partnership Supports Science

A friend recommended that Zac Cota get started at CCV, and he began working toward a degree in STEM studies. After graduating from CCV in 2016, he continued on to the field naturalist biology program at NVU-Johnson. “All of the classes I took at CCV were directly applicable to what I was learning and doing at Johnson,” he says.
