MONTPELIER, Vt. — Community College of Vermont (CCV) is pleased to announce its partnership with Green Up Vermont during 2020, when both organizations are celebrating 50 years of service to Vermonters and Vermont communities.

Both CCV and Green Up Vermont were founded in 1970 by Governor Deane Davis, who envisioned that these institutions could dramatically improve the quality of life in Vermont. Today, both organizations serve communities across Vermont and are driven by missions to ensure that Vermont’s people and natural resources can thrive. “CCV and Green Up have a shared history of working for a better Vermont. Through education and stewardship, our focus has been on making Vermont a more vibrant place to live and work,” said CCV President Joyce Judy. “We are proud to partner with Green Up as we celebrate 50 years of this common effort.”

CCV staff, students, faculty, and alumni throughout Vermont will participate in Green Up Day on Saturday, May 2nd. “For Green Up Vermont, having the support of CCV means so much. Our missions really focus on Vermonters helping Vermonters and working together to protect and enhance our way of life,” said Kate Alberghini, executive director of Green Up Vermont. “It is also about encouraging people to be good and do good in their communities—wherever that may be. Both of these organizations were developed and launched with strong moral ethics around civic service and taking care of the space we live in so that all can enjoy it.”
