The Community College of Vermont is proud to offer free opportunities for all Vermont middle and high school students to get started with college. Whether you’re a middle school student looking to explore college for the first time, or a high school senior who wants to get ahead with the Early College program, CCV has something for everyone.
Our Programs
Our programs for middle and high school students build on one another so you know that you’re
always on the right track. Start with an Access Day and visit a CCV center. Finish with the Free
Degree Promise, a free second year at CCV for completers of the Early College program.
Access Days
Access Days at CCV give students a taste of college life. They provide an introduction to what it’s like to be in a college class, how to pay for college, and where to go for answers to your questions.
Introduction to College & Careers
CCV offers high schoolers a free, non-credit class called Introduction to College & Careers (ICC). ICC prepares you for college by helping you set goals, manage time and stress, improve your communication skills, and plan for your future.
Dual Enrollment
Vermont’s Dual Enrollment (DE) program offers Vermont high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn up to six free college credits at CCV. That means your credits help you finish high school and start college, all at the same time.
Fast Forward
The Fast Forward program helps students in technical center programs earn college credit while they are still in high school and prepares them to enroll in college degree programs. Students earn credit toward their technical center program and college credit at the same time. The courses are taught at the tech center, and students must meet enrollment requirements for specific courses.
Early College
The Early College program allows you to spend your entire senior year of high school at CCV earning college credits. Credits earned also count toward your high school diploma, so you are finishing high school AND getting a jump start on college, tuition-free! Students in this program must enroll full-time at any of CCV’s 12 academic centers.
Free Degree Promise
The Free Degree Promise provides a second year at CCV to students that successfully complete the Early College program. The Free Degree Promise will cover tuition and fees after any federal and state financial aid and provide enhanced career and education advising as well as stipends to help with books, transportation, and other costs associated with going to college.
