- Former CCV instructor Alexis Lathem released a book Lambs in Winter published by UMass Press. Lathem is an essayist, a poet, and environmental activist who taught at CCV for twenty years before receiving a fellowship. She now concentrates solely on her writing. Lathem celebrated the book launch in Burlington on November 4.
- CCV instructors Stephen Pite and Mary Lothrop and CCV student Annika Crego participated in the Opportunities for Undergraduate Research and Graduate Professional Study project funded by the Chancellor’s Innovation Fund. The grant supported student scholars and faculty mentors to conduct undergraduate research projects, which were showcased at the Undergraduate Research Symposium, hosted at the VTSU-Castleton campus in September.
- CCV-Brattleboro staff hosted a Stephen King-themed ‘spooky booky’ scavenger hunt at the academic center for Halloween. This event brought in community members of all ages to read, craft, and explore the Brattleboro center.
- CCV’s founding president Peter Smith has been honored with a room dedicated in his name. A celebration was held in the new Peter Smith Gathering Space at the CCV-Montpelier academic center. Smith was hired as the president of CCV in 1970 and served until 1978.
- CCV coordinator of student advising Pelin Kohn was selected as an Athena Leadership Award finalist. The Athena Award represents professional achievement and community impact, and the finalists were celebrated at the Athena Gala on November 8.
- CCV instructor Linda Alvarez has been named the 2026 Vermont Teacher of the Year. Alvarez is a business and entrepreneurship teacher at Windham Regional Career Center in Brattleboro while also teaching part-time at CCV and VTSU. She is the first technical education educator to receive this award. Read more about Alvarez in this profile.
- CCV alumna Su Shannon took prerequisite classes at CCV on her way to pursuing the radiologic sciences program at VTSU. Read more about her in the profile on VTDigger.
- The VSCS, in partnership with CCV and others, held its inaugural Making a Difference, Making a Living conference in November. Supported by the Chancellor’s Innovation Fund, this conference featured a variety of speakers, including CCV alumnus Dylan Giambatista, to inspire and connect students, faculty, alumni, and community partners.
