MONTPELIER, Vt. – Community College of Vermont (CCV) will receive a 30% increase in philanthropic support from the J. Warren & Lois McClure Foundation for academic year 2018-19. The College is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a total of $235,000 to support its work in four critical areas.

This year’s funding includes $60,000 for the development of innovative occupational credentials that will enhance college-to-career pathways, and $90,000 provides broad support for CCV’s secondary education initiatives, which prepare Vermont middle and high school students for successful transitions to college and beyond, building on many years of support from the McClure Foundation for CCV’s Introduction to College and Careers course.

For a second year, ReSET Vermont, CCV’s prison-to-career pathway for inmates at the Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport, received $25,000 in funding. This program offers career preparation, college classes, advising, and mentoring to prepare inmates to transition to secure employment upon their release.

The McClure Foundation, with additional support from the Vermont Veterans with Disabilities Fund, will provide a total of $60,000 in continued funding for CCV’s veteran and military services, which deliver specialized support and advising to veterans, current military members, and military families.

CCV President Joyce Judy thanked the McClure Foundation for its commitment to the College and its work. “We are deeply grateful for our long-standing partnership with the McClure Foundation, and for their incredible leadership in recognizing the power of education and the importance of innovation to ensure career and college educational opportunities are accessible to all Vermonters.”
