Tysea Kurjiaka – Early Childhood Education
Tysea enrolled at CCV with the goal of furthering her education to provide for her family. She now owns and operates her own home daycare with plans to continue her education at VTSU and earn a bachelor’s degree and teaching license.
Natalie Geoffroy – Health Science and Clinical Medical Assisting
Natalie enrolled at CCV the fall semester after graduating from high school. Unsure of what program she wanted to pursue at first, with the inspiration of class work, peers, and advisors she decided to pursue a degree in the medical field. Natalie completed an associate degree in health science and the clinical medical assisting certificate. Natalie is now working at a primary care health center as a medical assistant and is motivated to pursue nursing school in the near future.
Zacharias Clay II – Liberal Studies
After graduating from CCV in 2018, Zacharias continued on to Vermont State University, graduating in 2021 with his bachelor’s degree. He then went to the University of Maine and graduated in 2023 with an MBA, and will be graduating from Marymount University this month with a DBA. Zacharias is currently teaching Intro to Business at the CCV-Brattleboro campus and plans to continue on as a college professor after graduation.
Danny Davis – Information Technology
Danny works in the cybersecurity field. He started as a help desk analyst and is now a security engineer for a Fortune 500 company. He says that the instructors and classes at CCV helped him with the foundational knowledge to propel him into a high-earning career path.
Rachel Cohn-Guthrie – Liberal Studies
Rachel is now the sales, marketing and advertising director for VermontBiz. She is also a freelance business owner of Bold Wave Creative Media.
Wolf Whitney – Design & Media Studies
For Wolf, CCV was an extraordinary experience. As an older adult learner, Wolf was worried about the transition back into academia after leaving the military, and community college felt like the answer to these very valid fears. CCV helped build confidence and provided a base to continue their education. Wolf is currently in the final semester of earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology at UVM, and CCV provided many necessary transferable credits into their current program.
Jason Bowen – Early Childhood Education
CCV gave Jason opportunities to learn and grow in the early childhood education field and made paying off the classes very easy. He’s continuing his education to earn a bachelor’s degree in ECE thanks to getting an associate degree at CCV.
Kiana Porter – Heath Science
Kiana completed a health science degree at CCV, which provided her with a strong interdisciplinary foundation in human development, psychology, and health systems, all of which directly support her nursing education. Kiana says she didn’t just gain knowledge at CCV, but developed the discipline, resilience, and purpose needed to succeed in a demanding healthcare environment. She is currently studying nursing at Vermont State University, where she is continuing to build the clinical knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to become a compassionate and competent nurse. For Kiana, CCV provided both the academic preparation and personal encouragement that set her up for success as she continues advancing in the nursing field.
Donovan Arnold – Accounting
While at CCV, Donovan was offered a wide selection of courses that would fit into his schedule, making it possible to work alongside getting an education. He is currently about to enter into his senior year at Clarkson University in the financial information & analysis program. CCV helped Donovan take core class credits needed for graduation, exposed him to the field of accounting, and helped ensure that his credits transferred seamlessly from CCV to Clarkson.
