Overview
Designed for those that want to shape young minds and support children through their development from birth to age eight, this program equips you with the theoretical background and hands-on experience needed to thrive in early learning environments. This program prepares you for careers such as a paraprofessional or teaching assistant, registered home childcare provider, assistant teacher in a licensed childcare program, and more.

Graduates of the early childhood education program will be able to:
- Communicate effectively and build strong partnerships with children and families
- Apply inclusive, developmentally appropriate practices in childcare and school settings
- Create safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environments
- Demonstrate professionalism, including legal and ethical responsibilities
- Show academic proficiency in writing, communication, information literacy, and quantitative reasoning
- Explore and prepare for career and educational pathways in early childhood education
Nearly half of CCV graduates choose to continue their education beyond an associate degree. To make transferring seamless, easy, and affordable, CCV has agreements with other institutions across Vermont and throughout the region.
Students who graduate from CCV with a behavioral science degree can choose from six transfer pathways into bachelor’s degrees, including 2+2 pathways that guarantee just 60 more credits after earning an associate degree at CCV.
The Vermont Transfer Guarantee is a partnership between CCV and participating Vermont colleges and universities that provides guaranteed admission and seamless transfer to:
