This national ranking is the most comprehensive evaluation of how well colleges and universities support military service members, veterans, and military-connected families.
- Honoring all paths: Tips for talking with students about the future this holiday season – VTDigger This winter break, conversations with students about their future can include real opportunities and pathways such as 802Opportunity at CCV, where Vermonters with a family income of $100,000 or less who do not already have a bachelor’s degree can attend tuition-free.
- Vermont By Degrees: The promise of a fast-tracked, free degree | Perspective | timesargus.com CCV President Joyce Judy’s editorial in theTimes Argus’ “Vermont by Degrees” series highlights the success students have found in the Free Degree Promise program. Offered through CCV and generously supported by the J. Warren and Lois McClure Foundation, the Promise builds on the state’s Early College program, allowing students who complete Early College to continue at CCV and complete the second year of their associate degree for free.
- Amid an Immigration Crackdown, 23 New Vermonters Become Citizens CCV alumna Alma Chase was among 23 individuals from 16 countries who became U.S. citizens during the naturalization ceremony in Burlington on December 3.
- CCV student receives $1,000 Legacy Scholarship | Vermont Business Magazine CCV student Lea Henderson has been selected as the recipient of CCV’s 2025 Legacy Scholarship. This year’s scholarship is given in honor of former Dean of Academic Affairs Deborah Stewart, who retired in June after 31 years at CCV.
- Vermont Teacher of the Year experiences the beauty of campus for the first time | Fitchburg State University CCV instructor Linda Alvarez was recently named the Vermont Teacher of the Year. She is a business and entrepreneurship teacher at the Windham Regional Career Center in Brattleboro and recently received her diploma for completion of a master’s in business administration with a concentration in marketing and communications from Fitchburg State University.
- Former CCV instructor Tom Ware shares his experience earning knowledge and skills in the US Air Force in the late 1960’s. For Tom, the Prior Learning Assessment program at CCV would have helped him earn college credit for these acquired skills had it been available in 1970. The PLA program is celebrating fifty years of helping adults save time and money on their college degree by getting ‘credit for what you know.’
- NCCC Instructor Emily Dehoff Honored with Vermont Outstanding Educator Award | Education news | caledonianrecord.com Emily Dehoff, an instructor of Animal and Environmental Systems Science, has been recognized as a 2025 Outstanding Educator by UVM’s College of Education and Social Services. Dehoff has created the program Animal & Environmental Systems Science, which includes hands-on experience and two college-level courses, one of which is offered at CCV.
- In Heather Duhamel and Kaitlin Northey’s op-ed, they highlight that building a strong child care workforce in Vermont starts with educating these educators. CCV offers classes, along with degree and certificate programs, for early childhood educators.
- Investing in People: How Hussam Alhallak Thrives with Casella and VAL CCV alumnus Hussam Alhallak came to Rutland eight years ago from Syria, where he worked as an accountant. Resettling in Vermont, he took classes at CCV and earned his accounting certificate, opening new doors for his career as part of Casella Waste Systems’ tax department. Read his full story here.
