September Resource of the Month: Saving Money

A warm welcome to the fall semester from Connie Beal, your CCV resource coordinator! As a member of the CCV community, you may access Resource Coordination, a confidential source of information, advocacy, and support for CCV students, faculty, and staff. Do you have questions about housing, transportation, public benefits, health care, financial help, food, utility assistance, or child care? These are some of the topics that your Resource Coordinator can help you with. If something gets in the way of class or work, expand your network and learn more about what your community has to offer. Here are some resource updates for September:

Do you pay for child care?

The income guidelines for the Child Care Financial Assistance Program have increased. Go to to see the guidelines.

Don’t wait until January to complete a FAFSA form!

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form that must be prepared annually by current and prospective college students (undergraduate and graduate) in the United States to determine eligibility for student financial aid.  Available as of October 1st

Are you prepared for Vermont’s heating season?  

You may be eligible for the Vermont Fuel Assistance Program. Income guidelines go up in October and eligibility is based on your gross household income and household size — regardless of other resources (e.g., savings, retirement accounts, property)..

Are you a Vermont Gas or Green Mountain Power customer?

Learn more about discount programs that can help you cut your utility expenses.
