October Resource of the Month

As a member of the CCV community, you may access Connie Beal, our Working Bridges Resource Coordinator. Connie can help with questions about housing, transportation, public benefits, health care, financial help, food, utility assistance, or child care. If something gets in the way of class or work, don’t hesitate to reach out. Connie has assembled this helpful list of resources for October:

Need health insurance? Open enrollment starts soon.

2018 Open Enrollment  will start November 1, 2017, and will close on December 15, 2017. This is the time when individuals and families can sign up for new coverage, or make a change to existing coverage.

Get your car ready for winter with $30 tires!

It’s hard to think about, but winter is coming. Make sure you have solid tires for all winter driving conditions. Pick up affordable winter tires at this year’s Wheels for Warmth tire sale(or donate your used tires that are still in good condition). Talk to your RC for details about the sale.

Computer fried?

Whether you’re studying for classes this fall or you need a solid household computer for internet access at home, there are programs that can help you access low-cost laptops and desktops. Check out www.everyoneon.org or talk to Connie about local options:

School lunches too expensive?

A child living in a household of 3 that earns less than $38,000 a year is eligible for reduced cost lunches. As school gets underway, the cost of food can feel like a burden. Find out more about this federal program by contacting your child’s school nutrition services. Contact your RC to talk about other ways to get creative with your child’s lunches and snacks.
