February Resource: Summer Child Care

We’d like to remind you that CCV has a resource advisor, Connie Beal, who is available to CCV students, faculty, and staff. She can help find resources for anything ranging from securing reliable transportation to where to go for legal advice. Connie will start sending a monthly update on useful resources. For February, she’s recommending a few places that can help you create a solid summer child care plan.

Plan Your Kids’ Summer Now

For a working family, when school is out, finding the right mix of care and opportunities to help children learn, grow, explore, and have fun is an important priority. Here are some helpful local resources that can help as you put a summer plan together:

KIDSVT – Kids VT is Vermont’s only parenting magazine, a reliable resource for family-friendly events, activities, camps, and classes since 1994. Find tips on health, fitness, food, shopping, books, crafts, and more. Check out their summer camp listings under Family Resources.

Young children? If you have young children who may need a childcare setting, contact your Resource Coordinator or go to www.brightfutures.dcf.state.vt.us.

Children with disabilities? If your school-age child is on an IEP or a 504 and is in need of services over the summer in order to continue making progress towards academic goals, this is the time to start planning. Summer services might include (but would not be limited to) academic tutorials, physical or occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, social skills development, and behavior management. For more information, go to the Vermont Family Network website www.vtfn.org or call 1-800-800-4005.
