You Can’t Afford Not to Fill Out the FAFSA

Did you know that each year, more than $2 billion of financial aid goes unclaimed? To get this money for college, all you need to do is fill out one form: the FAFSA.

The best part is that the new form has been available beginning October 1, giving you more time to complete it. Also, the application will now ask for tax information you’ve already completed, eliminating guesswork and giving you a more accurate picture of what money you could receive. If you need more reasons to apply, consider that every Vermont student who files their FAFSA by Halloween is eligible to win a $1,000 FAFSA completion scholarship! So why not?

Financial aid counselors at CCV are available throughout the year to assist you with your financial aid needs.

On a side-note: If you are planning to enroll for the spring or summer 2017 semesters and have not yet filed the 2016-17 FAFSA, you’ll need to do that soon. And when you do that during October will also be entered into the scholarship drawing. It’s a win-win.

You can find the form—which shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes to fill out (and definitely won’t require help from our First Lady)—at www.fafsa.gov. You can also find general information about applying for loans, grants, and scholarships, including workshops on paying for college, on our FA pages, ccv.edu/pay/financial-aid/ or on VSAC’s website, www.vsac.org.
