Things are different around here, right? That’s because, as you may have noticed, we’ve overhauled, redesigned, rethought, and reorganized the way we do things on ccv.edu. We’ve known for a long time that the existing website looked outdated and that it was becoming more and more difficult for users to navigate. That’s what drove the development of this new site. Easy to use with a more modern feel.
So what does that mean? Well, the site is responsive, so it’s optimized to work well regardless of how you surf. Big screen TV, no problem. Tiny smart phone, we got you covered. Everything in between. Check. We’ve also gotten rid of a lot of the cruft that accumulates on websites over years of use. We spent a lot of time sifting through our content, finding the redundancies and confusing bits, and either editing or removing them altogether. And we took a hard look at our navigation and how users actually use the site. We asked the CCV community what info they wanted out of a new website, and we think we’ve delivered. Our global navigation (right up there on the green background) groups our content into broad, but meaningfully labeled categories. Need to know about tuition or financial aid, that stuff is under Pay for College. You get the picture. We’ve also created a user-focused navigation at the very top, right-hand side of the screen. If you’re a current student, a veteran, or a student enrolled in one of our workforce education programs, you’ll find quick access to the most relevant information to you right there. And since current students, faculty, staff and prospective students are all connected to one of CCV’s physical academic centers or our Center for Online Learning, we’ve put direct links to center pages in the footer of every page. Go ahead, scroll down, they’re there. These academic center pages have been much improved as well, including individual calendars, announcements, maps and contact info specific to your needs.
Overall, we think the new ccv.edu is pretty cool, and we hope you do as well.
